About Feed My Sheep

Feed My Sheep was founded by Janay and Elijah Shepherd in July 2014 with the purpose of serving the community with an open heart. Back in 2013, Elijah and Janay used to go out with Love Never Fails, a non-profit organization that works to end human trafficking, and they noticed that the homeless people used to approach them for the same resources they would provide for the girls they were trying to help. Using this experience, Janay and another volunteer, Katrina, started a part of Love Never Fails where they started providing meals and toiletries for the homeless. On the trip back home from another day out with Love Never Fails, God put the idea of Feed My Sheep in her heart. Immediately, Janay went to the church she was attending at the time to start the ministry there, but she was rejected because the church did not want the homeless on their property. In order to fulfill what was on her heart, Janay then moved to New Hope Christian Fellowship, and within five months of being at the church, Katrina once again asked Janay when the ministry would come to life. Janay then met with the Pastor of the church and the Pastor said to do what God put on her heart, proving any resources necessary to make sure it happened. From there, Feed My Sheep began at New Hope Christian Fellowship. On the ministry’s first night, Feed My Sheep had seven guests and three volunteers. As of Fall 2020, Feed My Sheep has served up to 138 people in one week and has a leadership team of seven people.
